How much does it cost to replace struts/shocks?

I have a 2002 Mazda Protege. I live in a metropolitan area. I just don't want to get ripped off. I have a squeaking rattling nosie and all the classic symptoms, pulling while breaking, feeling of movement when changing lanes on a highway. I mostly drive in the city with some trips all on highways, straight, etc. Thanks. How much does it cost to replace struts/shocks?
That could be more then just struts from what you describe. To answer your question though, you can figure between $60-$80 dollars for each wheel for the struts. Then about half that more for the strut mount, which should also be replaced but most people don't do that even though it's good practice. Then figure 1hr flat rate per wheel. Many places offer deals where they do the whole job for a fixed price when you have all the wheels done at the same time. Check around for those. Like Sears or some places like that.

Flat rate in these parts is $80/hr.

That should give you a ball park figure. How much does it cost to replace struts/shocks?
