what you have to do is take the top 3 bolts off and you then have to take the bolts that hold the strut assembly to the steering knuckle. Then you have to use a spring compressor usually mounted on a wall. Or you can get one that you can put on before you jack up the car but then you just take the nut off the top of the strut assembly and remove all the pieces such as the spring and then rebuild the assembly with your new strut
